Kamui Virus Soundbank I & II Review
With a well established fanbase and being known for unique, hard electro sound, the guys of Kamui need no further introduction. Now, music producers might be happy to get their hands on actual Kamui style: Dominik Felsmann, one half of Kamui, designed 2 soundsets for his beloved synthesizer baby – the infamous Virus C. Still, the soundset is suitable for the complete Virus series, with slight differences in sound using models A, B and Powercore.
Kamui Virus Soundbank I
This set contains 125 sounds, all of them being 100% Kamui style. Besides patches which found their way into released Kamui tunes, this is a true arsenal of rough, hard and really raw sounds. The patches are carefully programmed in terms of all those little details which make you wanna play instantly a certain melody. Still, there’s not very much of show-off sounds inside here, but much more a really great collection of inspiring, unique but yet subtile patches.
For sure, this is not the perfect choice for all fans of smooth’n’silky trance sounds – probably the experimental music section is the most suitable one here. With this set you will add a lot more character to your electro music production, and definitely a pretty rough edge – which makes this soundset one of the best ones out there, especially for all lovers of the Kamui style.

Kamui Virus Soundbank II
Kamui’s next delivery leans a bit more towards the softer edge of their style, probably taking care of a more house-related touch. Since the latest fashion of house music likes to use raw sounds which need quite some character but still a “softer touch” in comparison with the hard electro genre, this soundset is an inspiring tool for it.
The combination of the well-known Kamui style and house elements results in a somewhat cleaner sound, using effects to a lesser extend. True Kamui fans might miss the very hard touch here, which is also why we like the first set better. However, it’s a pretty nice addon to the first set.

Summary: With this set you will add a lot more character to your electro music production, and definitely a pretty rough edge – which makes them to two of the best Virus soundsets out there, especially for all lovers of the Kamui style.
